报告摘要:I will describe the photon statistics of thermal source into some details and discuss their possible application to astronomical observations. Since photons are Bose particles, their fluctuation is not random, but super-Poissonian statistics is expected. In a quantum optics picture, Photon Bunching can be measured by the second-order correlation function using a setup similar to the Hambury-Brown and Twiss experiment in 1950's. Special focus is on application to terahertz interferometry using photon counting detectors. By using the information carried by photon bunches, it will be possible to measure correlation amplitude and their phase, and aperture synthesis images will be obtained by the Photon Counting Terahertz Interferometry (PCTI).
