报告题目:Flare heating and particle acceleration in the solar chromosphere

摘 要:Solar flares accelerate large numbers of electrons and ions to non-thermal energies, and result in strong heating of the solar chromosphere. The flare energy release and particle acceleration mechanism is still not understood, but we determine the properties of the particles, and indirectly of the flare energy release, primarily via the the heating and emission that they produce in the chromosphere. Although the vast majority of the flare diagnostic radiation originates in the chromosphere, the standard model of solar flares proposes that the site of particle acceleration is the corona. In this talk I will discuss an alternative scenario, in which first heating and then electron acceleration takes place in the upper part of the chromosphere itself, and present some recent observations in support of this concept.
