报告题目:Feeding and feedback of super-massive black holes: inflows and outflows in the two nearest galactic nuclei
报 告 人:Dr. Li, Zhiyuan (UCLA)
摘 要:Studies of nearby galactic nuclei hold promise for understanding the interaction and evolution of the central super-massive black hole (SMBH) and its environment, which is crucial for understanding galaxy evolution in general. In the first part of this talk, I will present a study of cool gas in the nuclear region of the Andromeda galaxy (M31), based on recently available HST images tracing dustextinction. I will discuss the morphology and fine structures of the dusty gas under sub-parsec resolutions, the extinction law in a spatially-resolved fashion, and implications on the physical regulation of the circumnuclear ISM and on the feeding of the SMBH. In the second part, I will present new evidence for a long-sought jet emanating from the Galactic Center Black Hole, known as Sgr A*, based on recent Chandra and VLA observations. I will discuss the interesting implications and open questions based on the physical properties of this jet.
