报告题目:Microlensing: Marching Toward a Complete Census of Cold Exoplanet Population

报告摘要:Planetary microlensing search is on an accelerating pace. Over the last several years, thanks to a strategic shift into focusing on high-magnification events, several dozen new planets have been discovered by a follow-up network of small and medium-size telescopes. These findings offer us first glimpse at a largely uncharted territory of exoplanet discovery space -- planets down to Earth mass beyond the "snow line". I will review these discoveries and discuss their implications. The field is quickly shifting to the “Generation-II” planet microlensing surveys by forming global networks of wide-field 1-2m telescopes, expected to enhance the discovery rate by orders of magnitude in the near future. The discovery potential of microlensing will be fully unleashed by a space-based wide-field IR telescope, such as WFIRST — No.1 priority space-based program recommended by U.S. decadal survey.
