报告题目:Recent work on the nearest supermassive black hole --- Sgr A*

摘 要:Most of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) are low in radiation luminosity. But the collective mechanical feedback from such radiatively inefficient SMBHs could rival or even exceed that from active galactic nuclei and could hence strongly affect galaxy evolution. Our own Galaxy's SMBH, Sgr A*, provides a unique laboratory to study this radiatively inefficient accretion state in great details. My talk will emphasize on our most recent work on Sgr A*, including a quantitative comparison of hydrodynamic simulations with observed X-ray emission, a timing analysis of long- and short-term variability in both millimeter and X-ray, and a confrontation of Faraday's rotation measurements with model predictions. These studies have yielded new constraints on the feedback process, as well as insights into the accretion dynamics of Sgr A*.
