报告题目:Earth Rotation, A “Telescope” To Look Through the Earth Inside(地球自转:看穿地球的“望远镜”)

摘 要:From the seismic observation and theory, various earth models like Preliminary Reference Earth Model (PREM) have been set up. These models provide many physical information of the Earth interior like density profile and elastic properties. Is there any other way that can explore the structure of the Earth inside too? Why we are so sure that there are solid inner core, fluid outer core and mantle in our planet Earth?
On the other hand, from astronomical observations and advanced space geodesy, what have we learn about the spatial and temporal behavior of earth rotation in space, including length-of-day (LOD), polar motion, precession and nutation? Meanwhile, how can the earth rotation theory help us predict the future behavior of the Earth and help us explore the Earth inside?
This talk will give a brief overview of the present observation of the variation of earth rotation and focus on how the earth rotation (especially wobble/nutation) theory can be used to investigate the interior structure of the planet Earth, as well as of other planets, for example, Mars.
(地震学观测和理论提供了地球内部包括密度、弹性参数等在内的大量物理信息,即地球模型。还有别的方法特别是天文学的方法来研究地球—我们居住其上的特殊行星—内部结构吗?现代天文学和空间大地测量手段已能以很高的精度、和时间-空间分辨率测定地球自转的变化,由此如何帮助我们探测地球内部的物理状态并预测地球未来的行为?本报告先简要介绍地球自转的观测现状,然后重点介绍我们从观测与理论结合以调查地球内部物理与结构的研究进展。)
