5月29日 Origin of the Fermi Bubbles & X-ray Temperature Tidal Disruption Events from Stars on Deep Plunging Orbits
2015年05月29日

  报告题目:Origin of the Fermi Bubbles

报 告 人:Prof. Vladimir Dogie (P.N.Lebedev Institute of Physics, Moscow, Russia)

报告摘要:I suppose to discuss the origin of the Fermi Bubbles, which were recently discovered by the Fermi-LAT in the GeV gamma-ray range. I would like to present a review of observational data, which show that these giant structures in the Galactic Center are real. We assume that these structures result from active processes in the Galactic center, namely, due to processes of star capture by the central black hole. I suppose to discuss also alternative models of the Bubbles.

报告题目:X-ray Temperature Tidal Disruption Events from Stars on Deep Plunging Orbits

报 告 人:Dr. Lixin Dai (University of Maryland)

报告摘要:When a star approaches a supermassive black hole closer than the tidal radius, the star can be deformed and even disrupted by the black hole tidal field. Such tidal disruption events (TDEs) can be used to probe quiescent supermassive black holes and help us understand accretion/jet physics around black holes. TDEs have been observed with telescopes in hard and soft X-ray, UV, optical, and radio wavebands. It is puzzling why some TDEs have X-ray temperature while others have only optical/UV emission. In this talk I will first give an introduction on basic TDE physics, then will talk about our recent work on how soft X-ray temperature TDEs can be produced from stars disrupted on deep plunging orbits.
