  Title:Small-scale solar magnetic fields as seen by Magnetic Bright Points–Observation Techniques and Recent Results

  Abstract:The Sun′s atmosphere is structured by magnetic fields. In fact, all the activity seen in the solar atmosphere is related to the dynamics and interaction of the magnetic fields with the surrounding plasma. On large spatial and temporal scales we find the well-known sunspots which were already investigated from earliest times onwards. However, more recently also smaller scales of solar magnetic fields became more and more interesting for scientists due to our ever increasing instrumental capabilities. In this seminary talk we will highlight some recent results regarding those small-scale solar magnetic fields (in the range of hundreds of kms) as well as give an introduction in common observation techniques for solar magnetic fields.

  In the first part of the Seminar, techniques, such as proxy magnetometry, spectropolarimetry and its inversions, will be introduced. Besides, some important missions and telescopes will be discussed. Later on we will investigate the temporal evolution of magnetic bright points from their formation due to the convective collapse process until their dissolution. Moreover we will have a look on the long-term behaviour of this constituent of the solar magnetism.
