报告题目：Planetary Nebulae as Probes of Stellar and Galaxy Evolution

　　个人简介：Dr. Xuan Fang obtained his PhD in astrophysics at Peking University (PKU). From 2013 to 2016, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia (IAA-CSIC) in Spain. From 2016 till now, he is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is an expert on the formation and evolution of planetary nebulae, in both theories and observations. As the principal investigator, Dr. Fang has been awarded and completed nearly 140 hours at the 10.4m Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC, La Palma, Spain), the largest single-aperture optical telescope on earth. 

　　报告摘要：Planetary nebulae (PNe) are descendants of the low- and intermediate-mass stars, which account for the majority of stellar populations in the universe. As an important category of the interstellar medium, PNe are one of the few classes of celestial objects that are active in every part of the electromagnetic spectrum; they have proven to be excellent laboratories for various basic astrophysical processes. Today the more in-depth investigation of PNe requires cutting-edge instrumentation. I will give a talk based on my research on PNe using the world-class telescopes, including the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), the 10.4m Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC), and the 3.6m CFHT.
