研究兴趣集中于岩浆动力学过程,包括岩浆源区部分熔融、上升、侵位和喷发过程所涉及的热化学状态和物理机制,以此来揭示行星演化所经历的重要事件和过程。注重多学科交叉研究,在野外地质、矿物学、显微构造、岩相学和岩石地球化学研究基础上,结合岩浆热力学、传热学和流体动力学等数值模拟,试图定量追溯岩浆所处的状态以及所经历的过程。在花岗岩堆晶精细过程以及岩浆喷发能力量化等方面取得系统取得系统性认识,为认识大陆地壳分异以及类地行星演化提供重要启示。
