报告题目一: Assembling the Most Massive Dark Matter Halos and Their Central Galaxies

Abstract:Modern imaging surveys such as Euclid, Vera Rubin’s LSST, and CSST will revolutionize our understanding of the Universe's bright and dark sides with deep imaging data and unprecedented weak gravitational lensing capabilities. Over the last two decades, this combination has demonstrated enormous potential in helping us understand the physical connection between galaxies and their dark matter halos. For example, I will introduce my research, which utilizes data from the Subaru Telescope’s primary focus camera, HSC, to understand the assembly of the most massive galaxies in the Universe. We illustrate the intriguing connection between the extended, low-surface-brightness stellar halo of low-redshift massive galaxies and the properties of their dark matter halos, and discuss its implications in cosmology. 

报告题目二:The Stellar Populations and Initial Mass Function in Massive Early-Type Galaxies

Abstract:Understanding how galaxies form and assemble is one of the central goals of astrophysics. Recent advances in stellar population synthesis modeling have moved the field well beyond the traditional “age and metallicity” framework. By extracting detailed elemental abundance patterns and constraining the stellar initial mass function (IMF) from the integrated light of distant galaxies, we can gain new insights into their star formation histories, stellar mass distributions, and dark matter content. In this talk, I will present recent results from the MASSIVE survey on the stellar IMF and its spatial variations in nearby early-type galaxies. I will also discuss recent stellar population studies of massive galaxies and their extended environments. Finally, I will preview studies of galaxies at earlier cosmic epochs enabled by observations with the James Webb Space Telescope.
