摘要:The inner regions of galaxy clusters provide critical testing grounds for the predictions of the CDM paradigm, particularly in light of results from high-resolution numerical simulations. At the same time, they offer a unique laboratory for investigating how dense environments influence the formation and evolution of galaxies.Strong gravitational lensing provides a powerful probe of the cluster mass distribution, from the scales of individual cluster galaxies to those of the cluster as a whole. In this talk, I will present ongoing efforts to build an unprecedented sample of strong-lensing galaxy clusters using observations from the Euclid mission.I will also discuss recent work aimed at constructing a large public database of simulated lensing clusters. The goal of this database is to provide the community with a framework for conducting systematic, statistically robust comparisons between theoretical predictions and observations.I will present some of the first applications of this approach. In particular, I will show how statistical lensing can be used to investigate the excess of galaxy-galaxy strong-lensing events observed in galaxy clusters relative to predictions from cosmological simulations (Meneghetti et al. 2020, 2022, 2023), and to explore its implications for the internal structure of cluster galaxies and their dark-matter halos.
