报告题目：Lyα Emission of Galaxies in the Reionization Era

摘要：Lyα offers a valuable probe of the reionization of the intergalactic hydrogen. Over the past year,JWST has begun delivering the first measurements of Lyα emission line properties (e.g.,Lyα velocity offset,Lyα escape fraction) at z ~ 6 – 11,providing new prospects for insight into the reionization process. Previous observations have revealed several associations of Lyα emitting galaxies at redshifts (z ~ 7 – 9) where the IGM is thought to be significantly neutral,leading to suggestions that these systems are situated in large ionized regions. New JWST spectra indicate that the UV-luminous Lyα emitters at z > 7 have hard ionizing spectra and large Lyα velocity offsets,likely also contributing to their Lyα visibility. In addition,to interpret the emerging Lyα property measurements at z > 7,we need to understand the Lyα properties of reionization-era galaxies before encountering the partially neutral IGM. Motivated by this,we select analogs of reionization-era galaxies at z ~ 2 – 5 where the IGM is mostly ionized and measure their Lyα velocity offsets and Lyα escape fractions. By comparing with JWST measurements at z > 7,we characterize the evolution of Lyα properties. In this talk,I will review these results and discuss the implications for the reionization process.
